Green Machine

This is my first attempt at a Blog. I'm not entirely sure what I want to make of it yet but we'll find that out I'm sure. Essentially it should be about either my thoughts, interesting news, movies, music, or about the Green Party, Politics either for the City of Victoria, the province of British Columbia, Canada, or any combination of anything mentioned above. Yet all this could change. Hope you like it. Cheers, Jaya

Great insight from Garth

I found a great blog post by the Hon. Garth Turner MP. After having served as a page in our House of Commons, and just hating all the partisan hackery, lack of real dialogue (although it did used to happen in committees), and just plain lack of respect for others, I am so glad that there are some MPs like Garth who really get why they are there. Don't get me wrong we do have some great MPs but the tendency these days is to be, as has been said many a time on garth's blog, a sycophant and a pack rat rather than a thoughtful respectful public representative. Anyway heres a preview and a link to his post:

No free lunch

"...Huge amounts of time are spent by [Conservative] MPs each week sitting in party meetings devoid of policy debate. Countless more hours are devoted to filling chairs in committee rooms, where the outcome of almost every meeting has been pre-determined by the government. And the rest of Ottawa time is largely spent sitting in QP where Tory MPs are expected to clap, but dare not ask tough questions, if any. If most voters dropped in and spent a day with these guys, they’d be floored. ..."
